History
The Round Mountain section of Deer Path Park was originally used by the Lenni Lenape for encampments. Early settlers cut the timber for lumber and fuel, leaving logging roads as evidence, and farmers built stone walls which still remain. The Round Mountain Section of Deer Path Park is part of the Hunterdon Plateau and is 600’ in elevation. This section is 224 acres and acquired in 1996. The Peter Buell Trail is named after a former county park employee who worked with Hunterdon County Parks for 22 years.
